Abstract: An interference model applicable to wireless technologies is presented in this report. Specifically, a generic methodology for cellular system self-interference modeling was developed, then applied to two proposed personal communications services (PCS) technologies: the Global System for Mobile-based PCS 1900, and IS-95-based code division multiple access. Resulting system-specific models are discussed in detail, and are used to produce output noise and interference waveforms suitable for implementation in a real-time hardware channel simulator, or as a component of a higher-level software simulation. Example outputs are given for simulations of both technologies, with corresponding statistical analyses of the noise and interference waveform properties. Models described in this report are particularly well-suited for independent PCS system evaluation by other Federal agencies, system manufacturers, and service providers.
