Video Quality Experts Group (VQEG)

HDTV validated objective video quality models that predicted the quality of High Definition Television (HDTV). This testplan examined Full References (FR), Reduced Reference (RR) and No References (NR) objective video quality models. Models were submitted in 2009 and VQEG's Final Report was approved June 30, 2010. All NR models were withdrawn. The ITU decided that the accuracy of one FR model and one RR model were sufficient to justify standardization.

The HDTV Phase I subjective and objective data are available in spreadsheet distributed with the final report. The video sequences for five of the six experiments will be made available to researchers as resources permit, subject to licensing limitations on the source material.

Models that are trained on these datasets must not be compared to the models submitted to VQEG for independent validation in 2009. Such a comparison is misleading, because the experiments contain mainly source scenes and HRCs that were unknown to the model developers. Additionally, this comparison would be misleading because the sixth dataset has been kept private.
